SEEKING: Discovery Kids Early Childhood Coordinator

Discovery Christian Church in Davis, CA is seeking a gifted Early Childhood Coordinator (6 months to Pre-K) to assist Discovery’s Family Ministry Team while serving a dynamic congregation of 300­-400 people. The Early Childhood Coordinator schedules servants, recruits and trains new volunteers, and oversees said volunteers to accomplish the general administration of the Sunday Kids program.  He or she also equips and oversees teachers and helpers each week and works to maintain a team of support workers that enhances the Sunday environment including Point People, Greeters, and Administrative Volunteers.  In addition, it is his or her responsibility to create a safe environment for children by ensuring established policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to by all.  The applicant must desire to be a part of building this ministry for future growth and be teachable and eager to grow as he or she leads by example, demonstrating a desire and ability to reach the unchurched people of our city.


  • Coordinate volunteers and curriculum (preparing materials) for Early Childhood (6 months to pre-K) classes for Sunday morning gatherings at Discovery (Davis High School Theater)
    • Hours: 9 am to 12 pm Sunday
  • Track attendance and family involvement
  • Teach two classes per month (oversee a 3rd and attend worship 4th)
  • Help train and orient volunteers
  • Attend once a month Leadership Community
  • Desired (but optional)
    • Attend weekly staff meeting (Tuesdays at 10:30 am)


  • Previous experience working with children/children’s ministry
  • A desire for future employment in Children’s Ministry
  • Alignment with Discovery’s values/mission
  • Clear background check
  • Ability to be present Sunday mornings (3 hrs) with 3-5 hours of work during the week


  • Relational team-building
  • Ability to communicate clearly (in verbal and written form)
  • Growing knowledge and understanding of the Bible
  • Ability to organize people and lead by example
