Helping people discover the good news of Jesus...
Discovery got its beginnings in June 2001 when Aaron and Lindsay Brockett moved to Davis. Under the guidance and provision of the church planting Northern California Evangelistic Association (now Stadia), Aaron and Lindsay began building relationships and first gathered a group for worship on February 22, 2002. For the first year of our existence, we gathered on Sunday mornings in the Stadium 5 movie theater on G Street, where worship was filled with the smells of popcorn!
In year two we moved our Sunday gatherings to the Veterans Memorial Theater across from the Davis High School. After meeting there for three years and experiencing continued growth, we were invited to meet in the brand new Davis High performing arts theater. We have spent our Sunday mornings there ever since. In January 2012 we opened our Downtown Ministry Center so that we could more generously serve our city.
Today our goal is to help people discover that Jesus is good news for them and for our world. Whether you are a student, a retiree, or somewhere inbetween we invite you to join us on this good news adventure.
We structure ourselves simply by focusing on weekly Sunday gatherings and mid-week groups. Our hope is that this simple structure creates plenty of space for generosity: ongoing and relationship-oriented opportunities to tangibly share the good news of Jesus.
Our vision is to become a church that plants more churches, so that people around Davis, around the county, the state, the country, and even the world have the opportunity to respond to the good news of Jesus!
