Discovery Family,

This February, a team from Discovery traveled to Santiago, Chile to join our Globalscope international campus ministry partners as they participated in a conference-type gathering for their teams in Latin America, called Latinscope. Through Discovery’s ongoing relationship with David and Claudia Ossa we were invited to lead teaching, worship, care for staff children, and cover logistics such as set-up and lunch preparation, so the Globalscope staff attending could have the freedom to be present and participate fully in the event. 

During the week in Chile, we were struck by the warmth and generosity of the Latinscope teams as they welcomed us into their space as family. And that really is the culture of these ministries: invitation, welcome, family, being yourself, and sharing life together. There is both a groundedness and a sense of fun in their approach to ministry that is compelling; where we can take a deep dive into the joys and challenges of ministry, while sharing a lively meal together. It was clear that though we are in different geographical locations and contexts, we are unified by a common vision and language. It was so fun to serve, learn from each other, and dream together. 

The week in Chile offered us the opportunity to come and see what God is doing in Latin America, and our hope is that the experience fosters creativity and imagination for how we can join in the work He is doing here in Davis.
