Hello Discovery Family!

In case you missed the Gathering on Sunday, we wanted to update you about some exciting news regarding our elder team.

Discovery is an elder-led church. Elders are biblically qualified people who are called to help lead the church. They protect and guide our community, keeping us in alignment with the mission, vision, and teaching of the church.

This year, we’ve had four wonderful leaders go through the discernment process for eldership and they have recently made the decision to proceed further, or not. Janine Carlson and Andrea Quinonez have said yes to this calling, and we are so excited and grateful to present them as candidates.

At this step of the process we invite your feedback whether that be affirmation, questions, or concerns. Please send those to elders@discoverydavis.org. We look forward to hearing from you! 

In the meantime, here’s information about some upcoming events and opportunities at Discovery!

• Practice the Practice- this past Sunday we jumped back into our conversation around the practice of Confession. Click here for a resource guide with tips and tools to engage with this spiritual discipline of truth telling.
• Discover Discovery- join us after service Sunday, October 10th to learn more about the mission, vision and values of Discovery Christian Church. Hear how we live those out through our Gatherings, Groups and Generosity, and find out how you can get involved. We'll meet from 11:30-12 at the picnic tables near the tennis courts, immediately to the right of the Brunelle Theater.
• Support World Relief- we have an awesome opportunity to partner with World Relief Sacramento to provide support for individuals and families displaced from their home in Afghanistan. To learn more and sign up to help, visit their website. Immediate needs include organizing and moving donated items, processing receipts and donating non-perishable food items. Long-term volunteer opportunities are also available. This is a great way to be tangible good news to people here in our own backyard!
