Hello Discovery!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with time and space to reflect on the people and opportunities you are grateful for.

Now that we are past Thanksgiving, we jump right into the Advent season. We started the journey in our Gathering on Sunday (check it out here if you missed it), lighting the candle of Love.

My encouragement to you (see what I did there) is to be intentional about how you enter this season. Families received some awesome materials to engage our kids with, and I wanted to share two resources for all of us to consider.

Scott Erickson wrote a book called “Honest Advent” (referenced by Pastor Antonio on Sunday) that many folks in our community are using this year (my family included…those who are reading this, let’s share our reflections together!)

Rich Villodas has generously provided a Contemplative Advent Resource that is available here.

Finally, as a community we are going to be partnering with World Relief in their ongoing efforts to serve Afghan refugees resettling in our area. More details are coming soon, but for now I want to encourage (there’s that word again) you to think about some ways you can spend less this season in order to give more and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
